What You Should Know Before Buying A Prepaid Phone Card

Prepaid phone cards offer an excellent solution for making cheap phone calls. They are convenient because they allow you to pay for your calls in advance without worrying about getting hit with an expensive bill later on.

Additionally, unlike VoIP and some other services you don't have to worry about downloading or buying any special equipment or software and you can take prepaid phone cards with you wherever you go.

Prepaid phone cards are convenient and fit easily in a wallet, can be purchased from stores, online or vending machines and allow you to make long-distance calls from virtually any telephone.

"Save Valuable Time: Buy Your Prepaid Phone Card Online And Get Instant Access To Your Pin Number"

Not only can you save a lot of money by using a prepaid phone card for your calling needs, but nowadays you can buy your prepaid phone cards online and get instant access to your pin number. In many cases you will be able to retrieve the pin number from your email address within seconds after placing your order.

Buying your prepaid phone cards online saves you the trouble of having to search for them from your local convenience store which sometimes run out of stock.

One company which offers extremely cheap global phone cards that enable you to call any country in the world, also features Pin-less Phone Cards. By using Pin-less Phone Cards you can have instant pin numbers delivered to you anywhere in the world. How this works is that you purchase your pre-paid phone card credit online using your credit/debit card. Then, a unique pin number will be sent to you via email. You may then use this pin number to make your cheap international calls to anywhere in the world. Customers placing orders online will, under normal circumstances, receive their pin by email within a few seconds of placing their order. This technology has been developed  by a well-known company to enable people like me and you to make really cheap calls from every country in the world.

If you'd like to see what I mean about how cheap these rates are, check out the calling rates below by using the rate finder below to see what kind of rates they offer (US):

"You Should Only Buy Prepaid Phone Cards From Reliable Companies".

Of course, the trouble with buying your phone cards online is not knowing who to trust. All of us hate to spend our hard earned money for a product and in the end we get ripped off. A good rule of thumb to follow when buying these kinds of products online is to get a good recommendation from someone.

Another important consideration is you should also try to  choose a prepaid phone card company that offers excellent customer service. If you're having difficulty with your card, you want to be able to call up the company at anytime and get good, responsive customer care. I just hate to spend my money with a company that doesn't care about my needs. Don't you?

Below I've listed links for some prepaid phone card service providers that fit this description. These are companies that have proven themselves in their businesses. As an expat who is always looking for ways to stay in touch with friends and family, these prepaid phone card companies that I've listed below are some of the best companies on the web in terms of price and customer service.

Save on Long Distance from any phone. No Switching carriers or entering PINS. Free no obligation trial.

Largest selection of Calling Cards & Calling Cards, 70% saving on long distance and international calls including Europe, India, Philippines, Pakistan. Get your PIN instantly! Secure Payment!

As you can see my list is not very long. It probably won't ever be because these are my own personal recommendations. There are hundreds maybe even thousands of companies whose links I could place here on my website for a commission, however, these are the companies that I trust and would use myself if I needed a prepaid phone card - that is, of course, if I wasn't using VoIP ;)

Prepaid Phone Cards: Caution Advised At First

Until you find a prepaid phone card you can trust, be careful when buying prepaid cards. After all, you’re paying your money with the promise of a service later.

Some of the more common complaints regarding prepaid phone cards include:

  1. Access numbers that don’t work or are always busy

  2. Higher rates than advertised

  3. Hidden charges

  4. Poor quality connections

  5. Service expiring before the card can be fully used

What To Consider When Buying A Prepaid Calling Card

Make sure you receive the following information as part of your prepaid phone card purchase:

  1. The name of the company providing, not just selling, the phone service.

  2. The toll-free number(s) you will need to reach the company’s business and technical assistance office.

  3. The instructions necessary to activate and use the phone card.

  4. Any authorization or access code required to place calls.

  5. The expiration date if one exists.

  6. The maximum charge per minute or unit for calls.

  7. Any additional surcharges, fees or taxes.

  8. The procedure for extending the card’s time if possible.

Prepaid Phone Cards: Other Considerations

How to determine how much time remains on the card:

Usually, prepaid phone card companies are required to make an announcement at the beginning of each call indicating the time remaining on the prepaid account or prepaid calling card.

What happens when time runs out:

When the time on your prepaid phone card has been used up, any call in progress will be terminated. Companies are usually required to provide an announcement one minute before the card account is depleted to allow you time to wrap up your conversation before being disconnected.

Contacting the company:

Companies providing prepaid calling cards are normally required to print the company’s technical assistance and business office numbers on their cards. Card company representatives must be available to provide technical assistance at any time or day (24 hours, 7 days a week).

Business offices should be available during normal business hours. If you've never used a particular company before, try their technical assistance numbers to make sure they are operating--Do this before you make a big purchase of a given card.

What to do if your prepaid phone card fails on you:

Call the business office number. The prepaid phone card company may be required to provide you call detail which identifies when and where calls were placed, what numbers were called, the length of the calls and how much was deducted for each call.

You may also have a right to ask for this detail in writing. Companies may ask you questions to verify you are the actual user of the account before providing call detail.

Standards of service:

Many companies are required to maintain a 98 percent level for call completion, which means that 98 out of 100 calls must complete to the called number.

Companies may also be required to meet the 98 percent level for calls placed to their business office and technical assistance numbers.

Prepaid phone card refund policies:

A prepaid phone card company may be required to provide you with its refund policies. If a prepaid phone card company fails to meet the technical standards relating to call completion or if the company bills you at rates higher than those outlined in the presale document, you may be able to request either a refund or replacement service.
